Primet re‑awarded LPPA following outstanding reassessment

We are delighted to announce that Colne Primet Academy has been awarded the prestigious Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) for a further three years, following a highly positive reassessment.

The reassessment included detailed discussions with staff, parents, students, and governors, as well as a review of the school’s comprehensive portfolio of evidence. The report highlighted the school’s continued commitment to strengthening partnerships with families and the wider community.

Stakeholders consistently praised the school’s clear, accessible, and varied communication methods including newsletters, Class Charts, email, text updates, and celebratory postcards, describing the school as welcoming, caring, and focused on wellbeing. Parents noted feeling “proud” of the school’s culture and valued the opportunities to participate in school life.

Students also shared how effectively their parents are kept informed about learning, progress, and achievements through a range of communication and reporting tools.

The reassessment highlighted several significant improvements across the school, including:

    • Improved Year 11 results
    • Year‑on‑year increases in attendance
    • Greater cultural understanding, supported by awareness‑raising around events such as Eid
    • Higher attendance at parents’ evenings
    • Improved behaviour and positive reward data
    • Better homework completion rates and reduced suspensions

The report emphasised that while many school initiatives contributed to these outcomes, the embedded focus on parental engagement played a key role.

The verifier recognised strong relationships across the school community including with families, staff, professionals, and community partners as a defining strength.

Award Verifier Andrea Wilkinson‑Quinn concluded her report with a strong recommendation for re‑accreditation, stating it was her “pleasure” to recommend Colne Primet Academy for a further three‑year LPPA award.

Principal Julia Pilkington said: “We are incredibly proud to once again be recognised for our commitment to working in partnership with parents and carers. Our strong relationships with families are at the heart of everything we do, and this award reflects the dedication of our staff, students, and community.”
