'Every child should only be a short walk away from a world class school.'
West Craven High School joined the Trust in September 2016. As a small and vibrant school, it specialises in giving its students the individual attention that larger establishments can find difficult. Every student at West Craven is an individual, prized for their individual skills, and it is a priority for the school to help each student achieve their personal goals.
The culture and ethos at West Craven promotes high aspirations and expectations, balanced with the highest level of care and support. The school believes in educating the whole child, and the school motto ‘Ad Vitam Paramus’ means ‘We Are Preparing for Life’. All students are encouraged to get fully involved in the life of the school and the opportunities beyond the classroom including extra-curricular activities, after school clubs, sports teams, school events and the many opportunities for visits and trips. Close links with local primary schools ensure good communication during transition into Year 7 and a strong relationship with local colleges and training providers, ensures Year 11 students go on to succeed when they leave West Craven.
Members of the Student Council worked with the senior leadership team to develop the core values of ASPIRE: Ambition, Supportive, Positivity, Independence, Resilience and Equality underpin all that happens in school. These core values promote high expectations and aspirations, balanced with the highest level of care and support.
